Meet David, a second-year Computing Systems Engineering Technology (Co-op) student from St. John’s, NL.
Q. David, why did you choose your field of study and to come to CNA?
After years of being interested in computers and technology, having a computer at my disposal for most of my lifetime, I have been growing more drawn to how technology has evolved and how it works. From the bare bones of the printed circuit board and its components (such as resistors and capacitors) and how 0’s and 1’s make our world go round, to keeping networks safe and secure for business and banks, I ventured to CNA for the Computing Systems Engineering Technology (Co-op) program to improve my interest, doing the things I love with technology.
Q. What are your thoughts about attending the Energy NL 2024 Conference?
It was a great opportunity to see the different sectors working with Energy NL to improve/manage the resources of the world and joining together to talk about these important energy plans for the future including making energy safer and more efficient for the planet. It has shown me that people are not just sitting around watching the climate crisis; hard work is being done every second of the day to improve the quality of life on our planet and evolve with new innovative technologies to create jobs and gain more assets for the future of Newfoundland and Labrador. I hope to join that wave of motivation to make a difference in the world.
Q. What are your career aspirations?
I am particularly interested in cyber security and innovation. I would like to become an expert in cyber security as well as to work in innovation creating software to help with daily tasks that improve and enhance anyone’s lifestyle.
Thank You to EnergyNL and this year’s Diversity and Inclusion Sponsors
The Energy NL 2024 conference underscored the vital importance of nurturing the next wave of energy professionals today. Diversity and inclusion are key to spurring innovation, solving the world’s complex energy problems, and ensuring a sustainable and inclusive industry powered by our brightest minds. College of the North Atlantic would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Diversity and Inclusion sponsors from industry for their commitment to the next generation of energy leaders and for making this experience possible for our students.
