Meet Blessing, a third-year Management Systems Engineering Technology (Co-op) student from Nigeria and recent permanent resident of Canada.
Q. Blessing, why did you choose your field of study and to come to CNA?
I chose the Management Systems Engineering Technology (MSET) program due to its versatility. It cuts across various fields, and I believe it will give me an edge compared to my peers due to this. CNA was my choice because my elder brother finished college here and had an amazing experience. He got employed by the same company he had his work terms with. This made me come to CNA, and I am hopeful that with the two work term experiences that are part of the program, I will also be able to kickstart a career in any industry of interest.
Q. What are your thoughts about attending the Energy NL 2024 Conference?
Attending the Energy NL conference was an amazing experience as I got enlightened on the various energy sources that are being explored in Newfoundland and Labrador. One key takeaway is that when it comes to innovation or trying something new, don’t be afraid to try. I loved the fact that it was a great opportunity to network with people in the energy sector and to listen to all the commendable projects being embarked upon.
Q. What are your career aspirations? I am passionate about manufacturing and everything in between (especially food manufacturing and generally fast-moving consumable goods). In addition, my experience in my program of study at CNA has increased my interest in ergonomics and workplace safety (Occupational Health and Safety) as well as quality assurance. I would love to work in a company that will enable me to practice the theoretical concepts learned in these areas. I am also open to any engineering technology industry experience and opportunities after I complete my program.
Thank You to EnergyNL and this year’s Diversity and Inclusion Sponsors
The Energy NL 2024 conference underscored the vital importance of nurturing the next wave of energy professionals today. Diversity and inclusion are key to spurring innovation, solving the world’s complex energy problems, and ensuring a sustainable and inclusive industry powered by our brightest minds. College of the North Atlantic would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Diversity and Inclusion sponsors from industry for their commitment to the next generation of energy leaders and for making this experience possible for our students.
