Meet College of the North Atlantic’s (CNA) Student Ambassadors. These bright, motivated students represent the very best of what it means to be part of a college community.
This semester, the team brings together four remarkable students from across Newfoundland and Labrador, each bringing their own blend of talent, leadership, and enthusiasm to the role. From inspiring peers and creating engaging content to fostering community on campus, these ambassadors are more than just friendly faces.
Hugh Alcock, at the Prince Philip Drive campus, is a familiar and friendly presence. Now in his second year of the Community Therapeutic Recreation program, Hugh is no stranger to hard work: he’s already completed one CNA program before taking on this new academic journey.
Born and raised in St. John’s, Hugh has a natural ability to connect with people. His energy and commitment to student life are evident through his active involvement in the Student Representative Council (SRC), where he’s become known for his dedication to student engagement.
“I love seeing people come together, that’s what CNA is all about,” Hugh shared. “It’s about building relationships, supporting each other, and having fun while we learn.”

For Orique Sean Gordon, the sky is not the limit – it’s home. Based at the Gander campus, Orique is currently enrolled in the Aircraft Structural Repair program and is already an alumnus of CNA’s Aircraft Maintenance program. His technical skill and professional attitude have already earned him a part-time position in the industry, a testament to his hard work and dedication.
Orique is known for his calm leadership style and easy-going nature. A former SRC representative, he’s admired by classmates and instructors alike for his ability to lead by example.
“I’ve always been fascinated by aviation,” Orique said. “CNA gave me the foundation to turn that fascination into a career, and now I want to help others see what’s possible.”
This semester, Orique plans to share his experiences and insights into the world of aviation, offering a grounded perspective on a field that continues to soar.

From Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Jillian Simone Saunders brings warmth, energy, and compassion to her role as a Student Ambassador. A Practical Nursing student and Resident Assistant, Jillian is deeply involved in both academic and residence life, making her a familiar face to many students living on campus.
Her natural leadership and caring spirit shine through in everything she does. Whether she’s organizing residence activities, supporting classmates, or creating content for CNA’s social platforms, Jillian’s focus is always on fostering connection and belonging.
“I love helping people feel seen and supported,” she said. “CNA is a community, and I want everyone to feel like they’re part of it.”
Her positivity and drive make her an inspiring example of what it means to lead with heart.
Rounding out this dynamic team is Jane Ballett, CNA’s Social Media Ambassador and a standout student in the Digital Filmmaking program at Bay St. George campus. An artist, performer, and storyteller, Jane has already made her mark, earning the prestigious Travis Marche Entrance Scholarship for her artistic excellence.
With a filmmaker’s eye and a passion for creativity, Jane is capturing CNA life in a whole new way. Through her videos, photography, and social storytelling, she aims to showcase the diversity, vibrancy, and authenticity of the student experience.
“Everyone at CNA has a story worth telling,” Jane said. “I want to use my camera to help tell those stories – the ones that inspire and connect us.”
Together, Hugh, Orique, Jillian, and Jane embody the values that define CNA: leadership, creativity, dedication, and community. Through their ambassador roles, they’re not only sharing their personal journeys but also encouraging others to make the most of their own.
As the academic year unfolds, keep an eye out for these ambassadors online and around campus. Their stories, events, and creative content will offer fresh perspectives on college life and remind us all why CNA continues to be a place where potential takes flight.
