CNA's Back-to-School Social Media Contest

“Project yourself” and enter to win a 4K Ultra HD Smart Mini Projector

Tell us your program without telling us your program.

How to enter:

  1. Project yourself! Take a photo or video of yourself that shows what program you’re enrolled in at CNA. Text or audio can’t be used to give away the program – get creative!
  2. Upload it to your social media.
  3. Tag us. (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter)
  4. Entries MUST use the hashtag #CNAprojectyourself or they will not be considered an eligible Entry.

The top five Finalists will be chosen by CNA’s Marketing and Communications department. The winner will be picked by popular vote of current full-time and part-time CNA students (including online learners) at this website address: https://www.cnacurrents.ca/project-yourself.. Rules

  1. Eligibility This contest “CNA Project Yourself” is open exclusively to current students (part-time and/or full-time) enrolled at College of the North Atlantic (“CNA”) in Newfoundland and Labrador (NL), including online learning. To participate in the contest, you must be a natural person (i.e., not a corporate entity); have reached the legal age of majority in your jurisdiction of residence at the time of entry into the Contest; and have complied with the Contest rules as provided herein (the “Rules”). All staff from the Marketing & Communications department of CNA are excluded, as is anyone living in the same household.
  2. Entry The Grand Prize (DLP Texas Instruments 4K Smart Mini HD Projector) To enter, participants [“the Entrant(s)”] must:
    1. Take a photo or video of themselves and upload it to social media. (Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram). The photo or video must be taken by the Entrant to the Contest. It should demonstrate which program the student is enrolled in without using text or audio to state the program. (i.e., “Tell us your program, without telling us your program.”) Participants must tag CNA’s Facebook (@CNANewfoundlandLabrador), Instagram (@cna_news), or Twitter account (@CNA_News) and must use the hashtag #CNAprojectyourself.
    2. Photo or video entries uploaded to other platforms (e.g., YouTube, Vimeo, VSCO) can only be considered if they are reposted to the above-identified platforms, tag CNA and use the hashtag #CNAprojectyourself.
    3. The entire Contest Period is from 9 a.m. Tuesday, September 20, 2022 until 11:59 p.m. Friday, October 14, 2022.
    4. Photo or video Entries will only be accepted between 9 a.m. Tuesday, September 20, 2022 and 11:59 p.m. Monday, October 3, 2022.
    5. The top five Finalists from the eligible Entries will be selected by the Marketing & Communications department, and Finalists will be notified by 4:30 p.m. Thursday, October 6, 2022 that they are proceeding to the voting stage.
    6. Voting is limited to current students (part-time and/or full-time) enrolled at CNA in NL and will begin on Friday, October 7, 2022 when the finalists will be announced publicly. Voting will run until Friday, October 14, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. Voting takes place at: https://www.cnacurrents.ca/project-yourself.
    7. Winners of both the Grand and Consolation Prizes will be selected by 4:30 p.m. Monday, October 17, 2022. Winners will be announced on social media once the Winners have been notified and accept their Prizes.
    8. No purchase necessary to enter or win.

    By entering the Contest, each Entrant agrees to be bound by the Rules. An Entrant may submit as many unique entries as they wish. Identical entries will not be considered.

  3. Consolation Prize Entry for the Consolation Prize (“Swag Pack”): For a period of one week after the submission period for the Grand Prize closes, CNA students will also have a chance to win a Swag Pack by voting for their favourite Grand Prize finalist photo or video. All those entering the Contest in consideration for the Swag Pack must complete the Voting Entry form at https://www.cnacurrents.ca/project-yourself. Voters can only vote once during each 24-hour period. At the end of the voting period, CNA will choose a voter at random to be selected to win the consolation prize. Entrants for either prize may be invited to consent to receive promotional emails from CNA. Providing consent to receive promotional emails is not a requirement to participate in the Contest. Entrants are responsible for the cost of their connection to the Contest website via the Internet. CNA does not guarantee continuous, uninterrupted, or secure access to the Contest website. By entering this Contest, Entrants grant CNA permission to use their name and their submission for advertising and publicity on social media relating to this contest without additional compensation. Entry by using multiple email addresses or any other means will void all Entries for such entrant. Entries that are late, lost, incomprehensible, misdirected, contain an erroneous phone and/or email address or that do not otherwise conform to the Rules may be disqualified by CNA. In addition, the Entries will be disqualified if they contain nudity, gratuitous language, racist or sexist jokes, statements, or actions featuring or referencing rape or sexual violence, real weapons, or if they fail to comply with or attempt to circumvent these Rules The Released Parties (defined below) are not responsible for, and accept no lability whatsoever in relation to, any lost, late, misdirected, damaged, incomplete, invalid or illegible Entries (all of which are void). Proof of entry submission does not constitute proof of receipt by CNA.
  4. Prizes The Grand Prize consists of a DLP Texas Instruments Smart Mini 4K HD Projector, valued at $527 CAD. The Grand Prize will be awarded to the Finalist that receives the most votes once all submissions have been received and the Contest closes. The CNA Swag Pack (Consolation Prize) is valued at approximately $250 CAD and includes:
    1. choice of one sweatshirt
    2. one Under Armour Backpack
    3. one reusable shopping bag
    4. one Columbia thermos
    5. one coffee mug
    6. choice of winter hat
    7. one water bottle
    8. one mobile phone pop socket
    9. one lip balm
    10. one smart phone wallet
    11. one pair of sunglasses
    12. one notebook
    13. one towel
    14. choice of one ball cap

    The two prizes cannot be won by the same person. A person who is selected as a finalist cannot enter to win the Consolation prize by voting. Winners must be verified that they are current CNA students to be eligible to accept any prize. The Prizes will be distributed within 30 calendar days after the Prize Winners have been successfully notified of their Prizes and fulfilled the requirements set out herein. The Prizes must be accepted as awarded and is not transferrable, substitutable, refundable, assignable or convertible to cash (except as may be specifically permitted by CNA in its sole and absolute discretion). CNA reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to substitute any Prize or a component thereof with a prize of equal or greater retail value, including, without limitation, a cash award. None of the Released Parties makes any representation or offers any warranty, express or implied, as to the quality or fitness of any of the Prize awarded in connection with the Contest. Any other costs or expenses, including taxes on any of the Prize, incurred by a Prize Winner in claiming or using their Prize, not expressly stated herein as being included in the Prize, will be the responsibility of the Prize Winners.

  5. Prize Terms and Conditions Grand Prize CNA’s Marketing and Communications department will choose five Finalists to be considered for the Grand Prize. Finalists will be chosen based on elements, such creativity, effort, uniqueness, or any other factors the department deems suitable and within the Rules of this Contest. After the Finalists are chosen, their photos/videos submissions will be shared regularly on social media for a two-week period for the purposes of voting. The only votes considered to choose the Winner will be those on the website: https://www.cnacurrents.ca/project-yourself. CNA students not selected as finalists will have an opportunity to vote on the winner. The finalists will be chosen between Oct. 4-5, 2022 and will be announced of CNA’s social media pages (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter) by Oct. 6, 2022, when voting is opened. In the event of technical difficulties, there may be a delay and results will be posted as soon as possible. There is a limit of one (1) Prize per Participant and per household. Anybody chosen as a finalist for the Grand Prize is not eligible to win the Consolation Prize. The selected Finalists for the Grand Prize will be notified by CNA or its agents through the social media account that the entrant used to enter the contest no later than 24 HOURS AFTER the finalists have been chosen. If the selected entrants fail to comply with any of the requirements herein, or otherwise fails to comply with the Rules, they will be disqualified and will not receive a Prize and another entrant may be selected in CNA’s sole discretion. The selected winner for the Consolation Prize will be notified by CNA or its agents through the email account that the entrant used to enter the contest no later than 24 HOURS AFTER the winner has been chosen. CNA is not responsible for the failure for any reason whatsoever of a selected entrant to receive notification or of CNA to receive a selected entrant’s response. Chances of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received. The selected entrants must agree to accept the Prizes as established by these Rules.
  6. Publicity By entering the contest, participants grant CNA permission to use their social media handle and photo for advertising and publicity purposes without any additional compensation. By accepting a prize (either the Grand or Consolation Prize), the Winner grants CNA permission to announce their name as the Winner and to use their name and/or photographs and videos for advertising and publicity purposes without additional compensation.
  7. Social Media Release The Project Yourself 2022 contest is sponsored and operated by CNA. Although accessible through CNA’s Facebook page, Twitter profile, or Instagram post(s), the Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed, or administered by, or associated with, Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram are each completely released of all liability by each entrant in this Contest. Any questions, comments, or complaints regarding the contest must be directed to CNA and not Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. The information you provide will only be used for contest administration.
  8. Limitation of Liability By entering this contest, entrants agree that CNA (including its stakeholders, subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, employees and agents; collectively, the “Released Parties”) will not be liable for any loss or damage of any kind arising from, or in connection with, this contest or any prize(s) won. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, the Released Parties will not be liable for: (a) any incomplete or inaccurate information, whether caused or provided by Contest entrants, Contest website users or by any equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest, or by any technical or human error which may occur in the processing of Entries; (b) any theft, destruction, or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, Entries or the Contest website; (c) any problems with, or technical malfunctions of, telephone networks or lines, computer online systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software, viruses or bugs; (d) any failure of the website during the Contest; (e) any failure of any Entry to be received for any reason including, but not limited to, technical problems, internet traffic, or any combination thereof; (f) any damage to an entrant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participating in the Contest or downloading or accessing materials related to the Contest; (g) printing, distribution, programming or production errors, and any other errors or malfunctions of any kind; (h) technical, pictorial, typographical or editorial errors or omissions contained herein; (i) anyone being incorrectly and/or mistakenly identified as a Prize Winner; and/or, (j) any combination of the above.
  9. General This contest is subject to all federal, provincial, and municipal laws and regulations applicable in Canada. This contest is void where prohibited or otherwise restricted by law. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, all issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of the Rules or the rights and obligations of the participants, CNA or any of the other Released Parties in connection with the Contest shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules or provisions that would cause the application of any other jurisdiction’s laws. Residents of Quebec: Any litigation respecting the conduct or organization of a publicity contest may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux (“RACJ”) for a ruling. Any litigation respecting the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the RACJ only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement. For all other entrants, any litigation must be initiated in the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.  Mass Entries, automated Entries, Entries submitted by third parties, and any Entries or Prize claims that are late, fraudulent or delayed will be void. All decisions of CNA with respect to all aspects of the Contest are final and binding on all entrants without any right of appeal. CNA’s failure to enforce any term of these Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that or any other provision. The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision of these Rules shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision. CNA reserves the right to cancel, suspend, withdraw, or amend the Contest or Rules in any way, without prior notice or obligations, in the event of an error, technical problem, computer virus, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failure, or any other cause beyond the control of CNA that interferes with the conduct of the Contest. Any change to the Rules will be posted at https://www.cnacurrents.ca/project-yourself. CNA reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to require proof of identity and/or eligibility (in a form acceptable to CNA) for the purposes of verifying the entrant’s eligibility, the legitimacy of any entry, and/or a Prize claim, or for any other reason CNA deems necessary, in its sole and absolute discretion, for the purposes of administering the Contest in accordance with the Contest Rules or awarding any of the Prize.
  10. Privacy CNA is an educational public body of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador. CNA is, therefore, subject to the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act, 2015 (ATIPPA). CNA is collecting your personal information for the purpose of accepting your entry into this contest. This personal information is collected under the authority of the College Act, 1996. All personal information will be stored in accordance with CNA’s normal network and information security measures. Personal information will only be disclosed as required by law.
